You can obtain a library card by presenting an identification card bearing your photograph and giving your address. For persons under 15 years of age a written consent signed by an adult guarantor is needed. Guarantor need not be a guardian nor a relative.
The library card is personal property. The library card owner is responsible for all materials borrowed with the card. The library card must at all times be presented for registering loans.
The first card is free of charge. A fee of EUR 2,00 is collected for renewal of a lost or damaged library card.
Please notify the library immediately if your card is lost or stolen. You should also inform the library of any change in name or address.
If you need help finding books and other material, please do not hesitate to ask the library staff. After you have found the books and other material you want to borrow, go to the self service check-out (”lainaus”) or the circulation desk to register your loan.
The loan period is 28 days for all material, with the exceptions of:
- videotapes, magazines and dvd-roms 14 days
The library can shorten the loan period if the book is in great demand (e.g. new books).
If you do not return the material in time, the library will send you the first reminder 7 days after the due date and the second reminder 14 days after the due date and you will have to pay a fine.
If you have lost or damaged the material you have borrowed, you will have to pay the purchase price for the material.
Items out on loan can be reserved. A fee of EUR 1,00 is charged for reserving items. After the reserved book has been returned, you will be notified by mail (or e-mail or SMS message, if you wish) and you can come to collect the book. The book will be held for you for five days.
You can leave the books and other material you have borrowed at the self service check-in (”palautus”) or at the circulation desk. If the books are overdue, you can pay your fine at the circulation desk.
